Physical Events

Our climate change activism includes peaceful marches, rallies, and physical awareness events in general with the purpose of educating the public on a certain issue and delving into how we can solve it. Examples of this include striking against climate change and big corporate's usage of fossil fuels, or #metoo marches to honor victims of sexual assault.

Artivism

Throughout history, art has always been a mechanism for activists to express themselves through their chosen medium. This means covering important and sometimes controversial topics through an artistic medium to raise awareness through a universal language. Our climate change activism is primarily achieved through our artistic pieces.

Universal Language:

Art

Art, being a universal language, speaks for itself. It does not have any language barriers. It is understood not only by expert art critics, but by any individual attuned enough to interact with image. We believe that art unites us in our global struggle for climate activism. Our mission is to showcase activist art from students around the world.

ACTIVISM THROUGH ART

Artistic Activism is a dynamic discipline that combines the arts' creative potential to affect us emotionally with the strategic planning required for social change. Art and activism have distinct purposes in the world. Activism is the act of confronting and changing power relations, as the word indicates.

Art, on the other hand, does not always have a clear goal. It's difficult to identify what art is for or against; its significance is often in giving us with fresh perspectives and ways of seeing the world. We want to engage both the mind and the soul by using art as activism.

#Metoo Marches

Because sexual harassment and sexual assault affect people every day, the "Me Too" movement, which focuses on the experiences of sexual violence survivors, has gotten a lot of attention.

The movement's supporters demonstrate how frequent sexual harassment is by sharing their own experiences. The objective is that through raising awareness of sexual harassment and the casualness with which it is sometimes dealt, tolerance for it will decrease and support for victims would increase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? We're here to help.

I'd like to participate in activism through art, how can I get started?

Art is one of the earliest attempts by humans to harness and effect societal change by art throught activism. Art and activism have a long and complicated history, from Picasso's Guernica to Rosie the Riveter, Chicano muralism to Ai WeiWei's sarcastic middle finger.

And activism through art is a relationship that's become even more difficult in recent years as activism has risen in unprecedented ways. The internet has given birth to movements that were formerly confined to basements and back rooms, thanks to social media.

In recent years, there have been numerous examples of activism through art. From the Black Lives Matter movement to March for Our Lives, hashtags and Facebook pages have been quickly commodified, transforming into full-fledged companies.

Art-based activism has been no exception, as artists can rarely create something without encountering issues of creation, ownership, and commerce. Maybe Picasso had these concerns, but in the age of memes, NFTs, and rapid information dissemination, artists must consider what to do if their work takes on a life of its own (often without their consent or knowledge).

We at Redefine Z believe artistic expression is the most powerful form of communication. We seek to use social media to promote art through activism. All media are showcased and our artists have a wide range of talents and abilities. Contact us today to get started.

  • How is Redefine Z different from other activist organizations?

Redefine Z is designed to elevate the voices of students as we redefine the world we live in. As young people, we have the most to gain by tackling social justice issues that will affect us for the next 60-80 years. We believe in enpowering students through dissemination of accurate information using art and social media platforms.

At Redefine Z, we believe activism starts with passion, and our passion is art. We believe we have the ability to speak to emotion and find common ground despite language and cultural barriers. We want to unite students from around the world on issues that define our future. Contact us today to see how we can work together!

  • What is the climate crisis?

    Climate Crisis:

Rising sea levels, ecosystem collapse, and more frequent and severe weather are the main concerns posed by climate change as the temperature of the Earth's atmosphere rises.

Climate change produced by human-generated greenhouse gas emissions has a variety of effects on global systems. It warms the polar regions and oceans, for example, melting the ice cover at the poles and causing sea level rise. Climate change has an impact on ocean environments by reducing oxygen levels, reducing phytoplankton (small plants that serve as the foundation of marine food chains), and destroying coral reefs.

Climate change influences weather patterns, generating more frequent and severe storms and droughts in many parts of the world. Higher temperatures are changing the length of seasons, and in some locations, they have already beyond ecosystem-safe thresholds.
